Planning Season

The foot traffic may be light around campus this time of year, but there’s no lull in action here in the Dean’s Office. The summer months are traditionally focused on planning and I’m happy to say we’re making headway in this latest round.

We are working on setting goals for the upcoming year based on our strategic plan. In particular we’re setting up action plans and goals related to undergraduate education, research and internationalization. We’ll share the plans with faculty in coming weeks, starting with a retreat the week before school starts that will bring together all of the department chairs and center directors across the College. We’ll also use that gathering to talk about what it means for us to join the Big Ten in terms of their strategic planning, and begin discussions on action plans in the areas of resource allocation, diversity and recruitment and retention of students.
