Countdown to a dedication

We’re just days out from dedicating our new physics building, Jorgensen Hall. We’ll cut the ribbon in dramatic fashion and in a fun, physics-themed way during a ceremony on Friday afternoon (details at http://physics.unl.edu.)

Jorgensen Hall is a beautiful building, inside and out and people are taking notice. Just yesterday I was in the building with a group including U.S. Sen. Ben Nelson, who commented about how great it looked.

The new physics building brings together a department that had been spread across three buildings. It showcases some of the great research we do on campus. It offers students the opportunity to learn in a modern facility with access to state-of-the-art tools. In short, it will help us propel the Department of Physics and Astronomy to a whole new level.

We’re so honored and grateful for the state’s support of this project. I have no doubt that the Department of Physics and Astronomy will make good on the investment and then some.
