A busy week

This week I spent Monday to Wednesday in San Francisco meeting with friends of the college. I always enjoy these meetings. So much enthusiasm for UNL and the college!

Friday I went to Iowa City for the thesis defense of my PhD student, Jitka Stehnova. She defended successfully. Congratulations Jitty! This was my first trip back to Iowa City since leaving for UNL last summer. It was good to see colleagues and friends but sad to see the damage caused by the recent floods.

I am writing this from Ohare airport on the way to China to give an invited lecture, do some mathematics and meet with administrators at other universities. It should be a great trip.
